Position 1 : Field Research Assistant (Project Technical Support)

Qualifications (Essential):
- GNM/BSc Nursing/Diploma/Bachelor’s/Master’s in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Knowledge of local language (Khasi, Pnar, Garo).
Qualifications (Desirable):
- Fluency in English is an asset.
- Clinical/Field/Laboratory experience is an asset.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Collect and process samples and related epidemiological data from community participants at the study sites.
- Maintain safety and quality standards for samples collected and for all equipment used.
- Ensure proper labelling, storage, and maintenance of the samples collected.
- Responsible for transport of samples to the Institute.
- Maintain close coordination with the field team and laboratory team at the Institute.
- Involvement in fieldwork as and when necessary.
- Perform any other project or institution-related activities as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal Investigator or immediate supervisor.
Position 2: Research Fellow

- Location: Shillong, Meghalaya

Qualifications (Essential):
- MSc in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
Qualifications (Desirable):
- PhD in the above subjects.
- Previous experience of molecular surveillance.
- Fluency in local language.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversee collection, transportation, testing, and long-term archiving of human biological samples (serum, saliva).
- Process, analyze, and interpret results and data.
- Maintain records and conduct correspondence related to the work.
- Develop new methods/protocols for carrying out microbiological, biochemical, and biological analyses.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external laboratory partners to manage sample logistics and ensure timely and efficient data sharing.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Write research papers, reports, reviews, and summaries; contribute to new research proposals and funding applications.
- Supervise, mentor, and support trainee researchers and other support staff.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator/Co-Investigators from time to time.
Position 3: Project Coordinator

Qualifications (Essential):
- Ph.D in Public Health, Social Sciences, Management, Public Health Nursing, Health Administration/Management or an equivalent degree from a recognized University.
- Or Master’s in Public Health, Social Sciences, Management, Public Health Nursing, Health Administration/Management or an equivalent degree from a recognized University with 2+ years experience in managing or coordinating projects, ideally in the same sector (e.g., public health, research, social work).
Qualifications (Desirable):
- Knowledge of local language (Khasi, Pnar, Garo).
- Proficiency in both written and oral communication in the local language and English.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate field activities in designated areas, ensuring adherence to established research protocols and methodologies.
- Plan and execute logistical aspects of field operations, including coordinating schedules, mapping out survey locations, and managing transportation arrangements for the field team.
- Conduct regular visits to field sites to supervise and support the collection and recording of project-specific data, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and consistency.
- Proactively identify and address any challenges or deviations from the research protocol during field activities, ensuring swift resolution of implementation issues.
- Review and validate data collected by the field team to ensure completeness and accuracy; engage with subjects as needed to resolve discrepancies or obtain additional information.
- Liaise with local government personnel at District and State level, health workers, and village/community leaders to ensure quality and timely completion of work.
- Provide timely progress updates, contributing actively to team meetings to discuss field outcomes, challenges, and potential modifications to the research approach.
- Take initiative in troubleshooting and problem-solving, addressing any unforeseen issues that may arise during fieldwork promptly.
- Perform any other project or institution-related activities as may be assigned by the PI/Co-PI from time to time.
