IIPH Shillong Recruitment 2025 – Project Title
Health system strengthening and community engagement to establish a model for Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) in Meghalaya
IIPH Meghalaya (Shillong) – Overview
The Government of Meghalaya has invested heavily in public health infrastructure and staffing, including nearly 6,000 Anganwadi centers and more than 10,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers. Supported by the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation, this initiative seeks to create a CMAM model that optimally utilizes these resources, ensures access to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs), and fosters active community involvement in child nutrition care.
The Meghalaya CMAM Model follows a ten-pronged, multi-sectoral, collaborative framework, based on evidence-based practices and the NITI Aayog compendium. It will be piloted in selected blocks across three districts with high rates of moderate and severe wasting, enabling the state to test, refine, and establish a replicable blueprint for managing MAM and uncomplicated SAM at the community level.
Effectiveness will be assessed through a cluster-randomized study, examining reductions in malnutrition, faster recovery times, implementation fidelity, community satisfaction, and the capacity enhancement of frontline workers.
