Academic Qualifications:
1. Head Constable (Radio Operator) – HC(RO):
- Pass in 12th Standard (Intermediate) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized Board/University/Institution as a regular student with at least 60% aggregate marks in PCM subjects. OR
- Matriculation (10th) or equivalent with a 2-year ITI Certificate in any of the following trades from a recognized institute: Radio & Television, Electronics Engineering, Computer Operator Programming Assistant, Data Preparation and Computer Software, General Electronics Engineering, Data Entry Operator.
2. Head Constable (Radio Mechanic) – HC(RM):
- Passed Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized board, university, or institution as a regular student, with an aggregate of at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. OR
- Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th) or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board/Institute, along with a two-year Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Certificate in any one of the following trades: Radio & Television, General Electronics, Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, Data Preparation & Computer Software, Electrician, Fitter, Information Technology & Electronics System Maintenance, Communication Equipment Maintenance, Computer Hardware, Network Technician, Mechatronics, or Data Entry Operator. The ITI Certificate must be obtained from a recognized Institute.
BSF Head Constable Recruitment 2025 – Age Limit Relaxation Criteria
The permissible relaxation in the upper age limit for different categories as of the closing date of online application:
1. UR (Unreserved)
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Maximum age: 25 years
2. OBC (Other Backward Classes)
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Maximum age: 28 years
3. SC/ST (Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes)

BSF Head Constable Recruitment 2025 – Method of Selection (Tests)
First Phase: Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET) via RFID
PST and PET are conducted using RFID technology. Qualified candidates will move on to the Second Phase: Computer Based Test (CBT). Results will be announced on the BSF website, and e-Admit Cards for the CBT can be downloaded three days before the exam. Candidates should check the official site regularly for updates.
Physical Standard Test (PST) Requirements:
- Male candidates must meet height, chest, and weight standards as specified in the official guidelines.
- Female candidates must meet height and weight standards as specified.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Requirements:
- Male candidates: 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes, long jump of 11 feet (3 chances), high jump of 3.5 feet (3 chances).
- Female candidates: 800 meters race in 4 minutes, long jump of 9 feet (3 chances), high jump of 3 feet (3 chances).
Exemptions:
- Ex-servicemen are exempt from the PET.
- LDCE candidates (willing GD personnel) are exempt from PST, PET, and DME but must appear for CBT and documentation phases.
- HC(RO) candidates will also appear for dictation and paragraph reading tests.
BSF Head Constable Recruitment 2025 – Application Fee:
- Male candidates (UR/OBC/EWS) need to pay ₹100 per post. You can easily pay online through Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or at your nearest CSC center.
- No fee for SC, ST, female candidates, BSF personnel, ex-servicemen, and compassionate appointment cases – they are completely exempted!
- Please note, a CSC service charge of ₹59 (₹50 + taxes) applies to all candidates using CSC for payment.
