NIT Meghalaya Professor of Practice Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Professor of Practice at NIT Meghalaya, candidates must fulfill the following:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Professionals with proven experience in industry or R&D organisations may be engaged as Professors of Practice to work full-time at the Institute. Their role focuses on bringing real-world perspectives into academics, enhancing student understanding, and strengthening the link between theoretical learning and professional practice.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 15 years of technical, managerial, or professional experience. Applicants must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Master’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, Management, Education, or related disciplines. A Ph.D. is desirable but not mandatory. Based on the level of experience, candidates may be considered for appointment as Professor of Practice.
  • Retired professionals from industry or R&D organisations are also eligible to apply. However, this position is not open to candidates currently engaged in the teaching profession. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate their ability and willingness to serve the Institute on a full-time basis.
  • Candidates willing to devote full-time service to the institute may be given preference during selection.

NIT Meghalaya Professor of Practice Recruitment 2026 – Salary & Remuneration

Full-Time Professor of Practice:

  • ₹1,59,100 per month (fixed).

Part-Time Professor of Practice:

  • ₹5,000 per day.
  • (For days of academic/research participation only; travel days excluded).

NIT Meghalaya Professor of Practice Recruitment 2026 – Duration & Terms of Appointment

  • Initial appointment: 1 year
  • Extendable up to 3 years or 70 years of age, whichever is earlier
  • Extension subject to:
    • Performance.
    • Recommendation of the selection committee.

Other conditions:

  • Accommodation may be provided as per institute norms (subject to availability).
  • No claim for regular appointment in NIT Meghalaya.
  • Institute reserves the right to terminate the engagement at any stage.
